Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Tech Lead Manager role sits at a classic enterprise SaaS leverage point: the admin console that determines whether a product can be deployed, governed, and expanded across an organization. In SaaS, that control plane is where authentication, permissions, data connectivity, and rollout controls converge, and it often becomes the deciding factor for adoption in large accounts. The listing also signals a product surface evolving alongside an AI platform shift, where administration extends beyond setup into ongoing configuration and governance.
For a SaaS engineering leader, the career value here is exposure to the mechanics of scalable self-serve enablement. Work that improves deployment visibility, connector health, and safe feature rollout builds repeatable instincts for reliability and trust, not just feature delivery. The cross-functional nature of the surface also strengthens platform thinking, translating well to other SaaS domains that blend UX, security, and distributed systems constraints.
This role best fits someone who enjoys balancing people leadership with hands-on technical direction, and who prefers ambiguous problem spaces where roadmap and architecture are shaped in parallel. It will suit leaders motivated by enterprise-grade complexity and by building interfaces that make sophisticated systems operable for non-engineering administrators.

Job Description
About the Role:
We’re hiring a Tech Lead Manager of the Admin Console team to lead one of the most important product surfaces at Glean: the admin experience that helps customers deploy, govern, and scale Glean across their organizations. This is a high-impact, full-stack leadership role for an engineering leader who can guide architecture, partner deeply with product and design, and grow a small but strategically important team. The Admin Console is the control plane for enterprise activation, admin confidence, and scalable rollout. Admins use it to configure authentication, data sources, permissions, governance, search settings, AI features, and deployment health from a self-serve central hub. As Glean evolves from a search company into an AI platform, this team’s mission is evolving too: from managing data sources to helping admins manage the broader context layer of the system, including actions, live data, governance, and AI configuration.
You will:
- Lead and grow the Admin Console engineering team, providing both people leadership and strong technical direction.
- Own architecture and execution for core admin-facing workflows including data source setup, security configuration, deployment management, and feature rollout controls.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to simplify complex enterprise workflows and make the admin experience more intuitive and scalable.
- Help evolve the Admin Console from a system centered on crawlers and data setup into a broader control plane for enterprise context, actions, governance, and AI capability management.
- Improve self-serve activation so admins can get their organizations up and running faster, with less dependency on human support.
- Improve visibility into crawl health, connector status, indexing progress, permissions, and rollout readiness so admins can confidently understand what is happening in their deployment.
- Build systems and workflows that help admins safely scale Glean across users, teams, and capabilities over time through a coherent interface.
- Collaborate deeply with backend, connector, infra, and security teams to deliver unified admin experiences that sit on top of platform and infrastructure layers.
About you:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building production distributed systems or cloud‑native applications.
- 1+ years of engineering management experience of a full stack team
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong coding skills in at least one of: Python, Go, Java, C++, Javascript.
- Product‑minded: you prioritize customer impact, clear SLAs/SLOs, and pragmatic iteration.
- Ownership‑driven with a positive, proactive attitude; comfortable leading projects or learning from battle‑tested engineers.
- You have experience building enterprise SaaS, enterprise platform, admin console, or similarly configurable product experiences.
- Experience working on products where usability, governance, permissions, and technical complexity all matter.
- Experience mentoring engineers with different technical strengths, including frontend and backend team members.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and shape roadmap, architecture, and team execution in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort partnering with product, design, security, and platform teams.

- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our Mountain View or San Francisco office)
