Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Legal Counsel role sits at a core SaaS growth lever: distribution and commercial partnerships that determine how a subscription product reaches users across devices, platforms, and bundled services. In a mature, global SaaS context, licensing and business development work becomes less about one off contracting and more about repeatable deal structures that can be implemented consistently across markets and product surfaces.
For a SaaS legal career, the remit offers durable exposure to the operating system behind partnerships: negotiating technology and AI adjacent agreements, advising on risk and regulatory considerations, and translating legal constraints into choices that shape business strategy. The emphasis on improving templates and processes also signals work that scales, building skills in standardisation, stakeholder alignment, and governance that transfer across product led and platform oriented SaaS companies.
The position tends to suit counsel who enjoys being embedded with commercial teams and working through ambiguity with practical guidance rather than purely academic analysis. It is a strong match for someone looking to deepen expertise in partnership models and digital distribution, and who is comfortable coordinating with finance, accounting, and licensing stakeholders to move complex agreements from negotiation through execution.
