Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This role stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it treats video as a core distribution channel rather than a supporting asset. Building a YouTube presence from the ground up and translating product and educational material into short, platform native formats reflects how modern SaaS brands increasingly rely on creator style content to explain technical value quickly and credibly across multiple channels.
From a SaaS career perspective, the work develops a practical blend of production craft and performance literacy. Owning channel optimisation, repurposing Academy content, and reporting on engagement and watch time builds fluency in how SaaS teams connect product narratives to measurable outcomes. The cross functional collaboration with comms, product, design, and training mirrors how content pipelines operate in B2B software, creating experience that transfers to broader lifecycle, demand generation, or product marketing paths.
The position fits professionals who are strongest behind the camera and in the edit, and who want a structured path into social strategy through close partnership with a Social Media Manager. It also suits someone comfortable operating without a mature playbook, iterating from feedback and analytics, and balancing planned programming with timely, trend informed production.

Job Description
About the Role
We're looking for a Multimedia Content Creator with strong video production skills to build out Algolia's video presence from the ground up. This is a video-first role, you'll spend most of your time creating, shooting, and editing content, with a smaller slice supporting day-to-day social publishing and community engagement. It's ideal for someone who came up through video production (school, internship, or hands-on project work) and wants to grow into social strategy alongside a Social Media Manager who'll mentor you on that side.
Reporting to the Social Media Manager within Corporate Communications, you'll own YouTube channel strategy and optimization, repurpose long-form Academy content into short, platform-native video, and build new content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and emerging channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and publish social-first video content, including short-form clips, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, product explainers, training videos, event recaps, and trend-based content.
- Support the planning and management of the social media calendar across priority platforms.
- Film and produce lightweight video content using smartphones, cameras, microphones, lighting, and basic production tools.
- Edit videos for multiple formats and platforms, including captions, motion graphics, thumbnails, hooks, transitions, music, and platform-specific aspect ratios.
- Audit and revitalize Algolia's YouTube channel — assess what's currently there, identify gaps and opportunities, and build a content plan to grow it.
- Write social copy that is clear, engaging, brand-appropriate, and tailored to each channel.
- Monitor social trends, platform updates, memes, creator formats, and competitor activity to identify relevant content opportunities.
- Engage with audiences by monitoring comments, messages, mentions, and community conversations.
- Track content performance and prepare basic reporting on metrics such as reach, engagement, views, watch time, follower growth, and top-performing posts.
- Repurpose long-form, educational content from the Algolia Academy team into short, promotional, platform-ready video and social content.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, design, product, training department (i.e., Academy team) and other internal teams to gather content and support campaigns.
- Maintain an organized library of video assets, templates, raw footage, graphics, and published content.
- Help ensure all content reflects the brand voice, visual identity, and messaging priorities with guidance from the Design team.
- Up to 20% travel.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ years of hands-on video production experience (school, internship, freelance, or professional) — this is the core requirement. Social media experience alone, without video production skill, is not a fit for this role.
- Based in or near New York or Boston, or otherwise able to work Eastern time zone hours. Boston/NYC strongly preferred for in-person video production and team collaboration.
- Strong video editing skills, especially for short-form social content.
- Experience with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Photoshop, or similar platforms.
- A good sense of humor, genuine curiosity, and a willingness to experiment and go against the norm.
- Comfortable navigating a first-of-its-kind role with no established playbook, tenacious about asking questions and building processes as you go.
- A good eye for pacing, storytelling, framing, sound, captions, and visual polish.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and other major social platforms.
- Ability to write concise, engaging social copy.
- Comfortable filming content, directing simple shoots, and working with non-professional talent.
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Curious about social trends, creator culture, and what makes content perform.
- Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly.
- Basic understanding of social analytics and reporting.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating content for B2B, technology, lifestyle, media, or consumer brands.
- Basic motion graphics or animation skills.
- Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, HubSpot, or native platform analytics.
- Photography skills.
- Experience supporting live events, webinars, launches, or executive social content.
- Familiarity with paid social creative best practices.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- You consistently create polished, platform-native video content that helps grow engagement and reach.
- You bring fresh content ideas rooted in trends, audience behavior, and brand priorities.
- You keep the social calendar organized and moving.
- You help the team move faster by turning raw ideas and footage into publish-ready content.
- You learn from performance data and use it to make the next post better.
- You have a strong storytelling instinct, transforming product launches, customer stories, and technical topics into engaging, scroll-stopping content.
