Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This role stands out in SaaS because it sits at the intersection of go to market execution and high sensitivity information protection, a growing need as AI products and platform launches attract increased scrutiny and competitive risk. The remit spans creative production, events, agencies, vendors, and executive communications, reflecting how modern SaaS marketing operates across a distributed ecosystem of tools and third parties. The focus on “stealth” programs also signals work tied to pre launch initiatives where operational discipline can materially affect outcomes.
From a career standpoint, the position builds a rare SaaS skill set: translating security principles into workable operating mechanisms for non security stakeholders. Experience shaping access models, intake and escalation paths, and incident response within marketing workflows is highly transferable across SaaS companies that rely on partner networks and rapid iteration. The role also develops cross functional influence across Legal, Product, IT, Procurement, and Communications, which is foundational for senior operational security paths.
It is best suited to professionals who prefer advisory ownership over direct execution, and who are comfortable navigating ambiguity and confidentiality. The strongest fit is someone motivated by practical controls, stakeholder alignment, and process design, especially in environments where launches and information flows are central to the business rhythm.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
About the Team
Security is at the foundation of OpenAI’s mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.
The Secure Manufacturing & Stealth (SMS) team protects OpenAI’s most sensitive product, manufacturing, launch, and partnership work from theft, leakage, espionage, and unauthorized disclosure. We operate across physical, digital, human, and third-party domains, building practical protections that allow teams to move quickly while preserving strict need-to-know controls.
About the Role
We are seeking a senior Secure Manufacturing & Stealth Partner to serve as the dedicated SMS owner for Marketing. This person will build trusted relationships across Marketing, understand launches and sensitive information flows, identify secrecy risks early, and embed practical controls into planning, creative production, events, agencies, vendors, media, and executive communications. The role owns the Marketing relationship while coordinating shared SMS capabilities when investigative, prototype-handling, regional, or other specialist support is needed.
In this role you will:
Serve as the primary SMS Partner and trusted adviser to Marketing, building a deep understanding of its priorities, planning cycles, launches, events, external partners, and sensitive information flows.
Identify secrecy and information-exposure risks early, then translate SMS requirements into practical controls that protect sensitive work without unnecessarily slowing execution.
Build, document, and socialize durable operating mechanisms for compartmentalization, need-to-know access, agencies and vendors, sensitive creative production, events, demonstrations, launch preparation, codenames, watermarking, and password controls.
Assess and approve Marketing systems and information workflows, identify gaps or duplication, establish secure handling requirements, and advise AI-native Marketing initiatives on permissions, data governance, and operational tracking.
Coordinate shared SMS capabilities—including investigations, prototype handling, APAC support, and other specialist services—while partnering across Marketing, Legal, Product, Communications, Procurement, IT, and Security.
Establish clear intake, escalation, reporting, training, and incident-response processes, and continuously improve controls based on recurring needs, incidents, and lessons learned.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
12+ years of experience leading security, product secrecy, information protection, or sensitive-program risk within a global consumer technology, hardware, media, or similarly launch-driven organization.
Direct experience serving as the senior security partner to Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Events, or another highly visible business function with access to unreleased products and launch-sensitive information.
Demonstrated success protecting major product launches, creative campaigns, executive communications, media briefings, events, demonstrations, agencies, production vendors, and other external partners.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and creative teams, influence without authority, and translate security requirements into practical operating models that preserve speed and effectiveness.
Deep understanding of product secrecy, compartmentalization, need-to-know access, insider risk, third-party exposure, information flows, incident response, and cross-functional coordination.
Familiarity with technical information-protection controls, including access and risk governance, secure collaboration, watermarking, monitoring, and data-loss prevention.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convert complex secrecy and security requirements into clear, practical guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Unimpeachable integrity, sound judgment, discretion, adaptability, and the ability to operate independently in fast-moving, ambiguous, and highly confidential environments.
