Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This role stands out in the SaaS engineering landscape because it formalises AI-assisted development as a core operating model inside a product engineering team, rather than treating it as an optional productivity layer. The listing frames the position as a dedicated talent track, indicating a structured way to build capability while contributing to real customer-facing features in an established codebase and modern web stack.
For a SaaS career, the value is in learning how AI tooling changes day-to-day software delivery without losing engineering fundamentals. Working across backend services, APIs, testing, and incremental full-stack exposure mirrors how many SaaS products evolve, where engineers must balance reuse, refactoring, and technical debt while still shipping. The emphasis on code reviews, estimation, and technical planning also maps to the cadence and accountability typical of subscription software teams.
This is best suited to builders who already use AI tools in practice and want to deepen that craft while expanding ownership over time. It will appeal to engineers who prefer evidence-based evaluation of shipped work, are comfortable navigating ambiguity in a living product, and enjoy collaborating closely within Scrum-style cross-functional delivery.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
About the Role:
Wrike is building a new generation of engineers who pair solid Java fundamentals with genuine, hands-on AI fluency. This isn’t a fixed lane for a 10-year veteran. It’s a newly created talent track for someone who already builds with AI as a natural part of their job- and wants to grow into full end-to-end ownership over the next year or two, with a clear, supported path to do so.
We evaluate this role on what you’ve actually built and how you work, not on years of tenure. If you have a strong Java base and real curiosity about AI-assisted development- not just awareness of it- this is worth a conversation.
You’ll sit inside one of our cross-functional Scrum teams and work on real product features from day one- not isolated tickets handed down with every decision pre-made. You’ll get more ownership as you demonstrate it: starting with clearly-scoped backend work and growing toward the kind of end-to-end, full-stack ownership our senior builders have.
AI tools are not optional here. You’re expected to work AI-native from day one: using them daily as part of your toolkit, experimenting, and deliberately getting better at AI-assisted development to remove friction from your workflow.
Your Impact:
- Build and ship backend features in Java/Spring, with growing exposure to the full stack as you take on more scope across modern frontend technologies (TypeScript, React 19) and legacy components
- Work directly with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude/Codex, our internal AI portal, and MCP) as a daily part of how you build- experimenting and finding new ways to save real time
- Write automated tests, take part in code reviews, and contribute to task estimation and technical planning
- Navigate an existing, living codebase- learning what to reuse, where rebuilding makes sense, and how to hold the line against tech debt
- Take increasing ownership of features as you build trust- this is a growth track designed to transition you into a full end-to-end owner
- Work closely with senior engineers and teams, picking up the critical thinking and judgment calls that come with full system ownership
Your Qualifications:
- A solid foundation in backend engineering, with comfort in Java (21), Spring, REST APIs, and SQL, TypeScript, React 19
- Genuine curiosity about and active use of AI coding tools- not avoidance, not just “awareness,” but a desire to push past the learning curve
- Evidence of things you’ve actually built and shipped, even at a smaller scope- we care more about what you’ve done than your title or years of experience
- A growth mindset: comfortable navigating a non-trivial codebase and taking on more ambiguity as you prove you can handle it
- Good collaboration instincts- you ask questions, raise issues early, and work seamlessly within a cross-functional team
Our Stack:
- Java (21), Spring, REST APIs, SQL
- TypeScript, React 19, Redux, Dart
- PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
- Unit/integration testing, Java web stack
- AI tooling: Cursor, Claude/Codex, Zencoder, internal AI portal, internal MCP
Benefits & Perks:
- 25 calendar days of paid vacation
- Sick Leave Compensation (5 Paid Uncertified Sick Days)
- Parental Leave: 18 Weeks Maternity / 4 Week Paternity
- 2 Volunteer Days
- Medical Insurance (Employees + Dependents)
- Hybrid Working Model
- School Allowance (Up to €600/month for school aged kids)
- Simcard w/ Unlimited Internet Access for active employees
- Office Lunch Allowance (via Wolt) on Wednesdays / Thursdays
