Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Product Manager role sits at a scaled payments SaaS platform where product decisions are tightly coupled to risk, compliance, and platform integrity. Financial crime capabilities are increasingly a core differentiator for payment providers, and the listing signals a shift from vendor reliance to owning critical monitoring technology in house, with measurable outcomes tied to detection quality and operational load.
For a SaaS product career, the work builds durable skills in operating data intensive systems that must balance precision, recall, and user workflow. It also offers experience partnering across engineering, compliance, and operations, a common pattern in SaaS businesses that sell into regulated or trust sensitive markets. The emphasis on reducing false positives and evolving tooling points to iterative product development grounded in metrics rather than surface level UX changes.
This role suits product leaders who prefer platform and decisioning problems over consumer feature roadmaps, and who enjoy translating ambiguous risk trade offs into prioritised delivery. It will appeal to those comfortable owning a defined product area end to end and working closely with a small engineering group, especially where internal stakeholders are the primary users.

Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
About the team
You'll join the Financial Crime product team within our Risk and Compliance domain — the team that decides who Checkout does business with and protects the company and our merchants from money laundering and other financial crime. We build the transaction monitoring, sanctions and screening technology behind those decisions. You'll own transaction monitoring, backed by a dedicated team of five engineers.
The role
Reporting to our Group Product Manager, you'll own the roadmap for our anti-money-laundering (AML) transaction monitoring. The systems that spot suspicious payment patterns and stop our platform being used to launder money. We recently brought this engine fully in-house, so there's real control and a lot still to build: sharper detection, far fewer false positives, and better tools for our investigation teams. It's an internal-facing product where the impact is measured, not cosmetic.
What you'll do
Own the transaction monitoring roadmap end to end. From detection rules that flag suspicious patterns to the tooling our investigation agents rely on.
Drive down false positives at scale by combining rules logic and LLMs, without losing genuine risk coverage.
Partner closely with your engineering team, Compliance and Risk to ship and iterate on a maturing in-house platform.
Navigate a fast-moving, still-maturing compliance environment. Pushing technical and organisational change forward without losing momentum.
What success looks like
You've reduced the manual workload sent to L1 investigation agents
You've brought false-positive rates down, while increasing the share of risky patterns we detect.
You've matured the in-house monitoring engine and become the trusted owner of this product area across the business.
Skills and experience
Proven product management experience shipping data-driven or risk products, ideally in fintech, payments or another regulated, fast-moving environment.
A strong grasp of risk, false positives and operational monitoring workflows, with the analytical instinct to reason about detection and trade-offs.
Comfort working hand-in-hand with engineering to build and iterate on core backend platforms.
Resilience and influence: you keep driving change constructively when processes are imperfect or ambiguous.
You use data, insights and machine learning or LLM models to set priorities and improve performance.
You communicate clearly, simplifying complex concepts for engineering, compliance, operations and commercial audiences.
We don't expect every box ticked. If you meet most of these and are excited by the mission, we'd love to hear from you.
Nice to have
Direct experience in financial crime, AML transaction monitoring or sanctions and screening.
Exposure to LLM-driven detection or automation in a risk or fraud context.
Experience scaling risk products into new segments such as SMB, consumer or crypto.
