About the role:
Samsara is looking for a Director of Global Benefits & Mobility to join our Total Rewards team! In this role, you will serve as the leader and subject matter expert for all things related to healthcare, wellness, leave of absence, global mobility, and immigration. You will lead the design and implementation of our global healthcare, wellness, mobility, immigration, disability and absence management programs in the U.S. and internationally, serving as the primary liaison with global vendors. You’re analytical and results oriented and will ensure that benefits offerings are competitive, follow local regulations, and aligned with the company's overall business strategy and employee needs. You’re willing to roll-up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done. You thrive in fun, friendly, fast-paced environments and will collaborate with HR, finance, legal, and other departments to ensure our benefits support the overall employee value proposition. You have a passion for all things Total Rewards / HR and are looking for a role with lots of exposure and growth opportunities. This role reports into the VP, Total Rewards & Operations.
This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
In this role, you will:
- Lead global benefits design and flawless execution, including market benchmarking, financial costing analysis, employee communications, COBRA administration, vendor management, and open enrollment
- Ensure we are investing in the right areas to hire and retain diverse top talent
- Lead and mentor a team of benefits professionals, fostering a high-performance team
- Oversee the administration and provide support for employee and candidate immigration questions and needs
- Regularly assess innovative practices and trends in employee leave and time-off benefits and recommend new approaches to allow us to remain competitive, specifically in the high-growth tech industry
- Partner closely with our leave admin vendor and payroll team to ensure accurate processing of pay for employees on leave
- Lead the design and oversee the execution of global mobility and immigration programs supporting short- and long-term transfers, assignments, and domestic or international relocation
- Develop program communications and resource materials to increase employee understanding and engagement of programs with a key focus on continued process improvement
- Assist other Total Rewards and People Operations staff with special projects on an as needed basis
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:
- 10+ years experience in Global Benefits; specifically focused on program management of healthcare, wellness, mobility, immigration, leave management and retirement planning
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to model and forecast benefit program impact, cost, and capacity planning for senior leadership
- Proven ability to design and communicate clear processes, and a detail-oriented yet flexible approach to problem solving
- Knowledge of government regulations and filing and compliance requirements affecting benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, DOL and ACA requirements
- Proficient in HRIS systems (Workday), benefits administration platforms, and Google Workspace
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment; ability to make sound decisions independently; solutions-oriented; thrives in ambiguity
- Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, juggling multiple tasks and projects at the same time, with tight turnaround times
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field /equivalent experience. A master’s degree or certification in benefits (e.g., CEBS, PHR/SPHR) is a plus
