As the Integrations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing robust and scalable integration solutions connecting various systems within Intercom Enterprise systems, overseeing custom development, ensuring data integrity and security, providing technical leadership and guidance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Leveraging your deep expertise in system architecture and integration technologies, you will own the integration platform and ensure seamless connectivity between various applications, systems and platforms, while also staying updated on emerging technologies and trends, and continuously improving the organization's business systems architecture to align with Intercom business objectives.
What will I be doing?
Integration Support & Planning
- Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements by working closely with senior team members and key stakeholders.
- Support the development of integration plans that align with ongoing business and IT initiatives.
- Participate in discussions around integration roadmaps and help track progress and deliverables.
Automation & Workflow Development
- Strong understanding of automation opportunities across business systems, with a focus on identifying and implementing solutions that eliminate manual work and improve operational efficiency
- Assist in developing event-driven automation scripts and logic using low-code tools or scripting languages such as Python.
- Work on streamlining business processes to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
Solution Development & Design
- Contribute to the design and implementation of integration workflows and solutions under the guidance of senior engineers or architects.
- Help evaluate integration tools and technologies with a focus on scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Learn and apply best practices in integration design and system interoperability.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including application developers, data engineers, and business analysts to support integration efforts.
- Assist in coordinating with external vendors or partners to help implement and troubleshoot third-party integrations.
Quality Assurance & Monitoring
- Support testing and validation of integration workflows to ensure reliable system performance and data accuracy.
- Help monitor integration processes and raise issues or inconsistencies to the appropriate team members.
Documentation & Learning
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for integration processes, technical designs, and workflows.
- Actively participate in training sessions, peer learning, and mentoring opportunities to build integration expertise and technical skills.
What skills do I need?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Design, build, and maintain automated integrations between business systems (e.g., CRM, billing, support, and marketing tools).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in designing and implementing complex integration solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of integration patterns, protocols, and technologies (e.g., REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, ETL processes).
- At least 2+ years with automated workflows using Python and iPaaS tools (e.g., Workato, Mulesoft, Boomi, Tines)
- Monitor and resolve integration issues while ensuring data integrity across systems.
- Highly adaptable and quick to learn new technologies, demonstrating a continuous growth mindset in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also supporting and guiding team members to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
- Understanding business processes and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions that drive value.
- Experienced in working with modern data models using tools like dbt and Snowflake, with a strong ability to trace data lineage from source to destination to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Bonus skills & attributes
- Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Workato, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi)
- Knowledge of common business tools like CRM (Salesforce), billing systems (Stripe, Netsuite).
