About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly collaborative Program Manager to lead HRBP Enablement efforts at OpenAI. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the connective tissue between our People Programs team (L&D), the HRBP team, and the broader business, ensuring that enterprise-level talent programs are thoughtfully customized and successfully implemented for diverse client groups. You will enable HRBPs to amplify their impact through practical tools, tailored strategies, and seamless program execution.
This is a unique opportunity for a Talent Programs leader, former HRBP, or L&D expert who thrives in dynamic environments and excels at translating high-level strategy into actionable outcomes. This role reports to our Head of HRBP.
Your Key Responsibilities:
HRBP Enablement & Customization: Partner closely with the People Programs team to adapt enterprise-wide talent program philosophies into fit-for-purpose solutions that resonate with the specific needs of different business units. Programs include talent calibrations, talent planning, promotions, employee engagement, and lifecycle programs.
Business Insight Integration: Act as a key liaison, bringing HRBP and business-specific insights back to the People Programs team to shape and refine the overall talent program roadmap.
Change Management & Rollouts: Drive change management efforts for HRBP-led initiatives, ensuring thoughtful, business-aligned rollouts of talent programs across functions.
Center of Excellence Collaboration: Serve as the primary connection point between HRBPs and other HR Centers of Excellence (e.g. Compensation, Employee Relations, Recruiting, etc) ensuring consistency and customization where needed.
Theme Extraction & Synthesis: Identify and elevate emerging themes from HRBPs and business leaders to inform strategic priorities and cross-functional People initiatives.
HRBP Capability Building: Equip HRBPs with frameworks, toolkits, and resources to deepen their impact as strategic advisors to the business.
We’re Seeking:
7+ years of experience in Talent Programs, Learning & Development, or HR Business Partner roles, with a demonstrated ability to operationalize people strategies in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
Strong program management and change management skills, with experience customizing and implementing talent initiatives at scale.
Exceptional relationship-building and influence skills, with the ability to partner effectively across HR teams and with senior business leaders.
Strong business acumen and a pragmatic approach to solving organizational challenges.
Experience working in technology, AI, or similarly dynamic industries is preferred.
Passion for enabling HRBPs, amplifying their impact, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
A scrappy, builder mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguity and create clarity from complexity.
Workplace & Location
This role is based in our San Francisco office, and we chose this location due to the proximity of our core group of People and cross-functional teams. We are not considering remote applications. We offer relocation support to new employees, and we use a hybrid work model: three days in the office per week with optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays.
Our open-plan offices have height-adjustable desks, conference rooms, phone booths, well-stocked kitchens full of snacks and drinks, three in-house prepared meals daily, a private outdoor space for working in the sun or socializing, nap rooms, private bike storage, and more.
