As Head of Editorial for Northern Europe, you will lead Spotify’s editorial strategy and approach across the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. You will be responsible for shaping how listeners in these markets experience music on Spotify across playlists, programming, and emerging editorial formats. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners locally and globally, build and manage a high-performing team of editors, develop editorial talent, and strengthen Spotify’s role as a trusted, culturally relevant voice in the music landscape!
Reporting to the regional Head of Music, you will guide the editorial vision, oversee our playlist ecosystem, champion creative storytelling, and elevate how Spotify shows up around artists, genres, and cultural moments. You’ll bring a strong editorial perspective, a deep understanding of local and global music cultures, and the ability to translate insights and trends into compelling audience experiences. This role also includes leading editorial video efforts in the region and shaping on-camera presentation styles, collaborating with production teams, and experimenting with new formats.

What You'll Do - Lead the overall editorial strategy for Northern Europe, ensuring Spotify’s playlists and programming reflect the cultures, sounds, and stories of the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a diverse team of editors, fostering creative growth, inclusion, and excellence in editorial execution.
- Shape and evolve our editorial voice across playlists, written and visual storytelling, and short-form formats on and off platform.
- Oversee editorial video for the region, defining presentation direction and working closely with production partners to deliver high-quality content.
- Use data, insights, and audience behavior to guide decision-making and inform editorial priorities.
- Identify emerging music trends, scenes, and culturally relevant moments, ensuring Spotify’s programming is timely, authoritative, and impactful.
- Maintain and refine a strong playlist ecosystem that supports artist development and deepens listener engagement.
- Partner with Artist & Label Partnerships, Marketing, Comms, Product, and other teams to align editorial strategy with broader initiatives.
- Represent Spotify with artists, partners, media, and industry stakeholders to champion our editorial vision for Northern Europe.
Who You Are - 10+ years of experience in the music industry, journalism, programming/curating music for digital, radio, TV, or other media outlets, with a record of team management
- Experienced editorial leader with a background in music programming, media, storytelling, or related fields, and a passion for serving diverse audiences.
- Deep understanding of the music cultures and industry landscape across the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
- Strong editorial voice and the ability to identify emerging talent, trends, and cultural movements with nuance and authenticity.
- Comfortable leveraging data and audience insights to support editorial decisions and build clear narratives.
- Skilled at developing talent, inspiring teams, and fostering an environment of creativity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Confident communicator who can collaborate across complex stakeholder groups and influence senior partners.
- Organised, adaptable, and at ease navigating fast-changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable on-camera and experienced working with video or content production teams.
- Passionate about building inclusive experiences and contributing to a workplace culture where everyone feels they belong.
