Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Product Designer role stands out in the SaaS landscape because it sits at the intersection of complex B2B workflows, platform consistency, and emerging AI-enabled product experiences. The remit signals a mature product organisation where design is expected to shape problem definition alongside Product and Engineering, not simply execute downstream. Work like this is typical of SaaS companies building durable, multi-surface products where trust, clarity, and scalability matter as much as feature velocity.
From a career perspective, the role offers sustained exposure to the core mechanics of SaaS product development: discovery to delivery cycles, trade-offs across customer needs and technical constraints, and the ongoing evolution of design systems. Designing AI-powered capabilities also builds a portfolio in an area increasingly relevant across SaaS categories, particularly where explainability and user confidence drive adoption. The emphasis on critique and standards suggests opportunities to strengthen craft while influencing how design quality is measured and maintained.
This position is best suited to an experienced individual contributor who prefers autonomy, enjoys ambiguous problem spaces, and values close partnership within a product triad. It will fit someone motivated by high-impact design work across interconnected journeys, and by raising the bar for consistency and usability in a sophisticated SaaS product.

Job Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead complex design initiatives and play a critical role in shaping high-quality, customer-centered experiences across Karbon’s product.
As a senior individual contributor, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy—defining problems, exploring solutions, and delivering well-crafted designs end-to-end. You’ll partner deeply with Product and Engineering, influence standards and quality beyond your own work, and help elevate the overall design practice through mentorship and example.
Key responsibilities
- Own and drive complex product design work: Lead design for medium-to-large initiatives from discovery through delivery, translating ambiguous problem spaces into clear, effective solutions that balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Create AI-enabled experiences: Contribute to the design of AI-powered features that build trust, user confidence, and long-term value for customers.
- Partner deeply with Product and Engineering: Work closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads as a core triad partner—shaping problem definitions, exploring solution options, and making informed trade-offs throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable design solutions: Produce concepts, flows, prototypes, and detailed designs that demonstrate strong interaction design, visual polish, and systems thinking—ensuring consistency and quality across the product experience.
- Advocate for the customer experience: Ground your work in a strong understanding of accounting firms by incorporating research, insights, support data, and customer feedback to ensure we’re solving the right problems in the right way.
- Contribute to design systems and standards: Apply and evolve Karbon’s design principles and systems, identifying opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability without compromising quality.
- Model strong design craft and critique: Participate actively in design reviews—both giving and receiving thoughtful, constructive feedback—and help foster a culture of high standards, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Apply AI to improve design efficiency: Think AI-first, embracing AI tooling, prototyping and experimentation to increase design efficiency and innovation.
- Mentor and support other designers: Provide guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced designers, helping them grow their skills, confidence, and impact through feedback, collaboration, and example.
What we’re looking for
- 6–8+ years of experience in product design, ideally within B2B SaaS or complex product environments
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, interaction design, visual craft, and problem-solving across complex systems
- Proven ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and drive work forward with clarity and ownership
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering
- Comfort balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Experience contributing to or working within established design systems
- Passion for high-quality, customer-centered design and continuous improvement
Bonus:
- Experience designing for vertical SaaS, professional services, or accounting-adjacent products
- Exposure to designing AI-enabled product experiences
