OpenAI’s Executive Recruiting team is responsible for identifying, attracting, and hiring exceptional senior leaders who will guide the company through its next phases of growth. We partner closely with executives across the organization to define leadership needs, shape org design, and deliver high-judgment search strategies that bring in world-class talent.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Executive Recruiter who thrives in ambiguous environments, operates with deep ownership, and builds trusted relationships with senior leaders. You will drive search strategy, stakeholder alignment, assessment, and closing for leadership roles across the business.
You will serve as a thought partner to executives, understand the nuances of each leadership role, and drive searches that require discretion, judgment, and an ability to navigate a fast-changing organization.
This role focuses on non-technical executive hires across functions such as Finance, Operations, Legal, People, Policy, Comms, Product, and GTM.
What You’ll Do
Lead end-to-end executive searches or partner with dedicated executive sourcers to drive high-quality pipelines across non-technical functions (e.g., Finance, Legal, Operations, Policy, Comms, People, and GTM).
Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders; advise on role design, interview processes, calibration, and closing strategies. profiles, market mapping, and building diverse slates.
Deliver a white-glove candidate experience, ensuring clarity, alignment, and confidentiality throughout the process.
Operate autonomously on highly ambiguous, zero→one searches, adjusting pace and strategy as company needs evolve.
Develop and drive search strategies, including scoping roles, crafting ideal candidate
Synthesize market intelligence, talent signals, and competitive insights to guide decision-making.
Partner closely with executive sourcers, recruiting operations, and cross-functional partners to ensure seamless, high-velocity execution.
Maintain the highest standards of judgment, confidentiality, and candidate quality.
What You’ll Bring
7+ years of executive recruiting experience, ideally in high-growth tech or a search firm specializing in executive-level roles.
A proven track record leading complex, confidential, or highly nuanced searches across non-technical domains.
Exceptional skill in stakeholder management, influencing executives, and driving alignment across cross-functional teams.
Strength in ambiguity—comfortable driving clarity, crafting strategy, and making sound decisions with limited information.
Outstanding written and verbal communication, including crafting detailed candidate summaries, search briefs, and calibration insights.
Ability to build trust quickly with candidates and executives and maintain deep relationships over long cycles.
High judgment, discretion, and integrity when navigating sensitive or confidential search work.
A bias for action, operational rigor, and a passion for delivering an exceptional experience for candidates and hiring teams.
Nice to Have
Experience recruiting for non-technical (GTM, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc.) leadership roles.
Background partnering with founders, C-level executives, or board members.
Familiarity with compensation structures for executive roles in high-growth technology environments.
Global search experience or exposure to international markets.
