Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Applications Engineer role stands out in SaaS-adjacent automation, where software interfaces and APIs are increasingly the product surface that customers adopt and depend on. Standard Bots is positioning a platform that blends user-facing applications with programmable integration, making the job less about one-off deployments and more about turning complex robotics capability into repeatable, supportable product outcomes.
For a SaaS career, the work maps closely to post-sales engineering and solutions architecture patterns, with an emphasis on implementation quality, customer enablement, and feedback loops into product development. Creating sample code, application notes, and white papers builds the kind of reusable technical content that scales adoption, while collaboration with in-house engineering offers exposure to how field learnings translate into roadmap improvements and integration maturity.
The role is best suited to professionals who enjoy being the technical bridge across sales, engineering, and real-world customer environments, and who prefer tangible ownership from design through validation. It will fit someone comfortable switching between hands-on troubleshooting and clear documentation, and who values on-site work and substantial travel as part of building credibility with operational stakeholders.

About Standard Bots
Standard Bot’s mission is to significantly lower the barrier to entry to real-world
automation, bringing the power of bits to the world of atoms and unlocking
productivity for entire new industries and users. Our user facing applications and APIs
unlock the power of automation for entire new use cases. A relentless focus on
simplicity and ease of use brings the revolutionary potential of robotic automation to
new users and industries. The Applications Engineering team drives forwards the
company’s mission by designing solutions around, installing and supporting Standard
Bot’s innovative 6 axis robot.
This role will be working from our robotics facility in Glen Cove, NY (we offer a compelling relocation assistance package). When not in the shop, you will travel up to 50% domestically to assist our customers.
Note: We are unable to offer Visa sponsorship for this role.
About the Role:
We’re looking for seasoned and skilled customer facing problem-solvers to help
architect the future of robotics through the design, installation and support of
innovative new robotic solutions. As a Applications Engineer you will work with other
engineers, organizational leaders, sales and customers to design, install and support
solutions for our customers in new and exciting robotic applications.
What You’ll Do:
Partner with sales and customers to design robotic solutions for novel applications, serving as a trusted technical resource throughout the sales cycle
Own installations end-to-end — traveling to customer sites to install, program, and validate Standard Bots solutions in the field
Create technical enablement materials including sample code, application notes, and white papers that help customers get the most out of our platform
Collaborate with in-house engineering to test and refine new features and integrations as our product expands
Contribute to marketing efforts by developing collateral that communicates the value of Standard Bots solutions to prospective customers
What you'll bring:
Technical Depth: You have hands-on experience across electrical, software, and mechanical systems — you're comfortable with DC power, understand NPN vs. PNP, can write Python scripts, and can navigate CAD tools like SolidWorks
Industry Fluency: You have hands-on experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments — you understand the constraints, workflows, and stakeholders that come with deploying technology on a factory floor
Operational Context: You've worked alongside or within production or assembly environments and can speak credibly to customers about cycle times, uptime requirements, safety standards, and integration with existing equipment
Growth Mindset: You're energized by new domains and challenges, and you pick up context quickly to maximize your impact
Clear Communication: You communicate with precision and empathy — in writing, in person, and across technical and non-technical audiences
Bias for Impact: You prioritize user outcomes over technical elegance, and you execute with urgency
Proactive Simplicity: You default to simple, reliable solutions and proactively flag opportunities to improve on what's proposed or already in place
Thrives in Ambiguity: You do your best work in fast-moving, high-expectation environments alongside a diverse team
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000, depending on experience. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
Compensation Range: $80K - $120K
