Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting role stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it reflects the kind of finance function maturity that becomes essential as software companies broaden internationally and operate across multiple entities. The remit signals a shift from basic bookkeeping toward controllership-style ownership, where reliable reporting, audit readiness, and standards alignment underpin decision-making and investor confidence.
For a SaaS career path, the value is in building durable operating muscle around close discipline, process design, and systems-led automation. Experience coordinating HGB and IFRS reporting, partnering across teams, and translating financial data into planning support tends to transfer well across subscription businesses, particularly where recurring revenue models demand strong reconciliation, forecasting hygiene, and clear performance narratives.
This role fits professionals who prefer structured problem-solving and want to be accountable for the integrity of the numbers, not only analysis. It will suit someone comfortable balancing detail work with improving workflows, and who enjoys guiding others through repeatable processes. The bilingual German and English context also points to a profile interested in working at the intersection of local compliance and global reporting expectations.

In this role, you will lead the day-to-day accounting activities, ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, and play a key role in optimizing processes as we continue to scale.
You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the business, guide the month-end and year-end close processes, and uphold compliance with all relevant accounting standards (HGB, IFRS).
You will:
- Lead and manage core accounting processes, driving accuracy, compliance, and continual improvements in financial operations
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance
- Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring timely processing, reconciliation, and smooth daily operations
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, championing improvements that elevate accuracy and efficiency
- Oversee audit preparation, coordinating with internal teams and external auditors to provide all necessary documentation and insights
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (HGB, IFRS) and internal policies, proactively monitoring regulatory updates and best practices
- Support budgeting and forecasting, collaborating closely with Finance leadership to provide data-driven insights and variance analysis
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
The next Moonfarian:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally with leadership of core processes or teams; familiarity with Private Equity environments is a valuable asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an Audit/Accountant qualification is a plus
- Full professional fluency (written and verbal) in both German and English
- Proficiency in DATEV, with experience in other accounting platforms such as Xero, and strong competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with Pigment is also a plus, but not essential
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying issues, implementing process improvements, and leveraging automation or AI-driven tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy
If you feel you do not meet all of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply!
