Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Backend Engineer role stands out in the SaaS landscape because it sits at the platform layer, building shared infrastructure that internal product teams depend on. The focus on AI agents and Model Context Protocol servers signals an organisation treating LLM-powered systems as a first-class platform concern, with attention to reliability, safety, and operability rather than isolated prototypes. That combination is increasingly central as SaaS companies industrialise AI capabilities across multiple teams.
From a SaaS career perspective, the work maps closely to enduring platform engineering themes: multi-tenant style internal consumption, standardisation, and developer enablement. Experience designing orchestration, lifecycle management, and evaluation frameworks translates well to other SaaS environments where product velocity depends on strong internal platforms. The emphasis on observability, deployment, and quality metrics also builds a practical toolkit for running distributed systems in production, which remains a differentiator for senior backend engineers.
The role is best suited to engineers who enjoy cross-team collaboration and shaping conventions that others will adopt. It will fit someone comfortable balancing API design with operational excellence, and who prefers building reusable primitives over shipping single end-user features. Stockholm-based candidates who value some in-person alignment alongside flexibility should find the setup straightforward.

Job Description
At Spotify, we build tools that help teams do their best work. The AiKA squad is focused on shaping the future of AI-powered knowledge and autonomous agents across the company.
We create the foundations that support Spotify’s growing ecosystem of internal AI agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. This includes the infrastructure, standards, and tooling needed to make these systems reliable, safe, and scalable. As this space evolves, we’re helping define how enterprise AI platforms are built and used in practice.
As a Senior Backend Engineer in Platform Developer Experience, you’ll help shape the future of how AI agents are developed, evaluated, and operated at Spotify. You’ll work across teams and technologies to build shared infrastructure, improve developer workflows, and enable engineers to build AI-powered systems with confidence.

- Develop evaluation frameworks including automated testing pipelines, benchmarks, and quality metrics for AI systems
- Improve observability through monitoring, logging, tracing, and performance analysis across distributed systems
- Build APIs, SDKs, templates, and self-service tools that improve the developer experience for teams building with AI
- Partner with engineers and cross-functional teams across Spotify to align on architecture, platform capabilities, and operational excellence
