Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Backstage sits at an interesting intersection in the SaaS ecosystem: a developer platform with both open source roots and a commercial B2B offering. That combination typically brings distinct go to market considerations, including how to translate community adoption into enterprise trust, and how to market infrastructure products where the buyer and the daily user are often different people. The remit also spans a specific product line while influencing a broader R and D brand, which is a common pattern in platform led SaaS businesses.
For a SaaS marketer, the role signals meaningful exposure to full funnel ownership and measurement, from positioning through acquisition and expansion. The focus on technical audiences and cross functional alignment with Product, Engineering, and Sales reflects the operating model of modern B2B SaaS, where marketing is closely tied to roadmap narrative, proof of value, and repeatable pipeline mechanics. Experience here tends to translate well across developer tools, platform SaaS, and other high consideration enterprise categories.
This role is best suited to a senior marketing leader who prefers structured, data guided decision making and is comfortable navigating ambiguity in a product led environment. It will fit someone who enjoys balancing brand and demand priorities while building a team and operating cadence around clear outcomes.
