Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Social Marketing Lead role stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it sits at the intersection of product-led storytelling and market-specific platform strategy. OpenAI’s work is distributed through software products used by both consumers and businesses, and the listing makes clear that Korea requires a distinct social approach across channels like Kakao, YouTube, and emerging communities. The remit is less about brand amplification in the abstract and more about translating complex product and research updates into locally native narratives that fit how SaaS adoption actually spreads online.
For a SaaS marketing career, the long-term value here is the chance to build repeatable systems for channel creation, measurement, and iteration in a defined geography. The role touches common SaaS levers such as launch communications, audience segmentation across consumer and B2B, and performance-driven optimization. It also develops the craft of cross-functional alignment with product, research, and comms, a durable skill set in companies where messaging must track rapid product change.
This position fits a marketer who prefers end-to-end ownership, moving between strategy and hands-on execution without losing editorial rigor. It will suit someone motivated by cultural nuance, platform mechanics, and high-stakes accuracy when communicating technical topics, especially in environments where global priorities must be adapted rather than copied.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
About the role
Korea is one of the most dynamic and fast-moving digital markets globally, with a highly unique social and platform ecosystem.
We are looking for a Social Marketing Manager to build and lead OpenAI’s social presence in Korea — translating global priorities into locally resonant, culturally native, and platform-specific strategies.
This role will define how OpenAI shows up across Korea’s key platforms — including YouTube, Instagram, Kakao, and emerging communities like Threads — across both consumer and business audiences.
You will partner closely with global and local teams across product, research, and communications to bring our work to life in ways that resonate deeply with Korean audiences.
Key responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of Korea’s social marketing strategy across priority platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, Kakao), covering both consumer and business audiences.
Set up and scale social channels and systems from the ground up where needed, including Kakao-based distribution and platform-specific workflows.
Operate as a hands-on social lead, managing day-to-day publishing, editorial planning, copywriting, and rapid response—especially around launches and key moments.
Translate global priorities, product launches, and brand narratives into locally resonant social storytelling that reflects Korea’s cultural context.
Lead high-visibility moments including product announcements, research updates, and company news—ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment across teams.
Partner cross-functionally with product, research, communications, marketing, and policy teams to align messaging and navigate nuanced or sensitive topics.
Develop Korea-first content ideas and formats that reflect local platform behaviors, internet culture, and audience dynamics (including creator-native formats).
Support creator and influencer collaborations, helping shape briefs and ensure content is culturally relevant and high quality.
Monitor Korea social trends and conversations, identifying opportunities to engage, differentiate, or escalate when appropriate.
Define and track performance metrics, continuously optimizing content strategy and execution based on learnings.
Scale social output over time by identifying and managing agency or external partner support.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have deep experience in social marketing and a strong understanding of the Korea’s digital and cultural landscape.
Are comfortable operating as both a strategist and an operator, able to move from idea to execution quickly.
Demonstrate strong judgment on tone, nuance, and what resonates (or doesn’t) with Korea audiences.
Can translate complex or technical topics into clear, engaging, and human storytelling.
Have experience working across global and local teams, balancing alignment with local relevance.
Bring a builder mindset and are comfortable creating structure, systems, and momentum in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Why this role
This is an opportunity to define how OpenAI shows up in Korea—one of our most important and nuanced markets.
You will have real ownership in shaping our social voice, building locally relevant storytelling, and helping the company move with more speed, creativity, and cultural fluency in the market.
For someone who understands Korea deeply and cares about both internet culture and product storytelling, this role offers rare scope and impact.
