Your role
Our microservices platform team provides the reliable, scalable infrastructure that empowers our entire engineering organization. As we expand our scope to build infrastructure that supports both traditional SaaS services and cutting-edge agentic needs, you will play a pivotal role in evolving our platform from serving core products to enabling reliable, repeatable infrastructure patterns across the company.
As a Sr. Software Engineer on this team, you will own significant parts of our roadmap, balancing long-term technical vision with incremental delivery. You will design and operate foundational systems, including infrastructure-as-code, multi-region architecture, and cloud resources, while partnering with engineering teams to solve complex problems. This role combines hands-on backend development with platform design, production ownership, and technical leadership.
What you’ll do
- Own the 6-12 month roadmap for parts of our shared microservices infrastructure, breaking complex goals into actionable, incremental phases that deliver continuous business value.
- Translate business needs into robust technical solutions, evaluating implementation options with a focus on cost, scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability.
- Drive end-to-end execution for key platform components, including architecture, Terraform automation, and infrastructure-as-code workflows for repeatable cloud provisioning.
- Solve classes of problems rather than individual issues, driving team-wide process improvements in scalability, observability, and cost-efficiency.
- Represent the team in technical design, triage, and on-call rotations, addressing the root causes of incidents and clearly communicating risk and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally with other product and infrastructure teams to resolve platform friction, evangelizing engineering best practices and repeatable patterns.
- Raise engineering standards by leading design reviews, fostering code quality, and actively mentoring engineers to improve the team's collective impact.
Skills you’ll bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with distributed systems.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience with highly agile and iterative development processes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and helping them grow their skills.
- Our Tech Stack: Python backend on Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Datastore, BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Tasks, Pub/Sub), Redis, Elastic Search, Monitoring (Datadog, Observe).
