Job Title: Transaction Tax Analyst
Department & Team: Global Tax Team
Location: Manila, Philippines
Summary:
Genesys is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transaction Tax Analyst to join our growing Global Tax Team. This role will support Genesys in various activities surrounding all transaction-based taxes (including but not limited to sales taxes, telecommunications taxes and fees, property taxes, GST and VAT). Responsibilities will include compliance, reporting and audit support activities.
This role will be based in our Manila, Philippines office, and have the flexibility to work in-office, fully virtual, or a hybrid of the two!
Key Responsibilities:
In this role the primary responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Preparation and filing of the United States state and local sales tax returns.
- Preparation and filing of Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST tax returns.
- Preparation and filing of global telecommunications tax returns and other required reports.
- Preparation and submission of tax payment requests.
- Maintain and monitor the global indirect tax filing calendar to ensure timely reporting and payments.
- Validate, monitor, and improve customer exemption certificates management and process.
- Identify areas to enhance and automate indirect tax compliance process.
- Assist with indirect tax audits, perform tax technical research, and document audit results summary for management review.
- Analyze current tax exposures in major tax jurisdictions, measure risks and propose necessary changes.
- Assist with quarter-end financial reporting close process including the reconciliation of indirect tax accounts.
- Review and respond to various tax notices, contact tax authorities when necessary to resolve in a timely manner.
- Work closely with various business partners to resolve tax related matters and provide guidance as needed.
- Support ongoing tax planning and special projects, including tax research, analysis, and modeling/forecasting potential tax impacts.
- Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities in connection to notices and examinations.
- Keep up to date on tax law changes and perform technical research and analysis and apply tax laws to support tax positions related to the Company’s business transactions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation or similar field preferred. Master’s Degree a plus.
- 2-5 years of indirect tax related work experience with multinational companies, preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment with a high level of integrity, manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally, and meet tight filing deadlines.
- Strong people skills to build relationships and work closely and proactively within the global tax team, as well as with global cross-functional teams.
- Must be willing to work periodically outside of the normal workday hours to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills to manage and reconcile large volumes of transactional data to report internally and externally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience with Vertex, Workday, or Blackline is a plus.
- Experience with telecommunications taxes is a plus.
- Self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines and projects timely and effectively.
- Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy.
