Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Flock Safety sits at the intersection of cloud software and real-world deployments, pairing a software platform with connected devices and large-scale data flows. That combination makes a software engineering internship here relevant to a growing slice of the SaaS ecosystem where reliability, privacy considerations, and real-time experiences matter as much as feature delivery.
For someone building a long-term SaaS engineering career, this internship offers exposure to problems that translate across modern product companies: designing and shipping production features, working with APIs and integrations, and contributing to systems that emphasize performance and operational discipline. The description also signals a breadth of possible placements—data pipelines, platform integrations, real-time UX, or cloud video—each of which maps to durable SaaS competencies that remain valuable across domains.
This role tends to fit early-career engineers who learn best by building alongside experienced practitioners and who want their first SaaS experience to include meaningful production ownership. It also suits candidates curious about end-to-end product surfaces—frontend, backend, and platform layers—rather than a narrowly scoped project, and who are comfortable collaborating in a structured internship program environment.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.

Who is Flock?
Flock Safety is the leading safety technology platform, helping communities thrive by taking a proactive approach to crime prevention and security. Our hardware and software suite connects cities, law enforcement, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods in a nationwide public-private safety network. Trusted by over 5,000 communities, 4,500 law enforcement agencies, and 1,000 businesses, Flock delivers real-time intelligence while prioritizing privacy and responsible innovation.
We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.
With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.
Emerging Talent
We are seeking multiple Interns for Summer 2026! These are paid, in-person, 12 week internships based out of Atlanta, GA.
At Flock, we believe emerging talent is the future of innovation. Our Emerging Talent Program gives early-career professionals the opportunity to make an immediate impact on real-world challenges while learning in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll work alongside experienced mentors, build skills that accelerate your career, and contribute directly to our mission of creating safer, thriving communities. From day one, you’re treated like a full-time employee, with real projects, real responsibility, and real impact.
The Opportunity
Flock Safety is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our dynamic engineering team. This internship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack applications using cutting-edge technologies. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to real-world projects, and learn the fundamentals of building robust and high-performing systems.
You could be placed on one of several teams building core parts of Flock’s safety platform. Example teams include those working on large-scale, low-latency data pipelines that ingest and analyze audio signals in near real time; platform and integrations teams that connect Flock to external public safety systems and build APIs powering real-time data across web, mobile, and partner platforms; real-time product teams focused on rendering live data in FlockOS through mapping, alerts, and web-socket–driven experiences for first responders and customers; and cloud video teams developing extremely low-latency live video and custom video management systems that enable rapid, informed responses to incidents. Across teams, interns contribute to production systems, tackle meaningful technical challenges, and help build technology that directly impacts customer safety and success.
The Skillset
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
A solid understanding of fundamental programming concepts and data structures.
Familiarity with React, Node or Go
Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
Exposure to version control systems, preferably Git.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude.
Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
Location
This role is based in Atlanta, GA, where you’ll join our dynamic team to collaborate in person and drive innovation. Candidates must reside in or relocate to Atlanta, GA, for this position.
