Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This internship stands out in the SaaS landscape because it sits at the intersection of cloud software and real-world device connectivity. Flock Safety operates a platform model where product value depends on reliable data flowing from distributed hardware into a centralized service, making wireless performance a direct driver of customer outcomes. That blend of edge constraints and cloud expectations is increasingly common in modern SaaS, particularly in security and infrastructure-adjacent categories.
For someone building a SaaS career, the role offers a practical view of how “availability” and “real time” are earned, not assumed. Work that involves validating WLAN, 5G, and CV2X links and turning measurements into reports builds instincts that translate to production engineering, reliability, and systems thinking across SaaS businesses. Exposure to cross-functional problem solving with antenna, systems, and software teams also mirrors how SaaS products are shipped and supported at scale.
This role is best suited to early-career engineers who prefer hands-on investigation and evidence-based iteration, and who want to connect theory with operational constraints. It will particularly appeal to candidates curious about telemetry, networking, and the messy boundary between physical environments and cloud services, in a setting that treats interns as contributors rather than observers.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
Who is Flock?
Flock Safety is the leading safety technology platform, helping communities thrive by taking a proactive approach to crime prevention and security. Our hardware and software suite connects cities, law enforcement, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods in a nationwide public-private safety network. Trusted by over 5,000 communities, 4,500 law enforcement agencies, and 1,000 businesses, Flock delivers real-time intelligence while prioritizing privacy and responsible innovation.
We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.
With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.
We are seeking multiple interns for Summer 2026! These are paid, in-person, 12 week internships based out of Atlanta, GA.
At Flock, we believe emerging talent is the future of innovation. Our Emerging Talent Program gives early-career professionals the opportunity to make an immediate impact on real-world challenges while learning in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll work alongside experienced mentors, build skills that accelerate your career, and contribute directly to our mission of creating safer, thriving communities. From day one, you’re treated like a full-time employee, with real projects, real responsibility, and real impact.
The Opportunity
At Flock Safety, our devices are only as good as their connection. We are looking for a wireless Engineering Intern to join the team responsible for the invisible threads—WLAN, 5G, and CV2X—that link our hardware to the cloud. In this role, you’ll step into our lab to help design and validate the radio systems that allow our devices to stream critical data from the field in real-time.
You won’t just be reading theory; you’ll be hands-on with cutting-edge wireless radios and helping solve issues associated with wireless systems. If you’re a student who is fascinated by wireless physics and wants to see how 5G and cellular tech are applied to public safety at scale, come help us build the future of connected hardware.
The Skillset
Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on wireless communication and theory.
A solid grasp of software and system capabilities
Ability to process measured data and turn it into clear, concise reports or visualizations.
A drive to work cross-functionally with Antenna, Systems, and Software teams to solve complex hardware challenges.
Exposure to Python or MATLAB for data processing.
A "maker" spirit—personal projects involving ham radio, antennas, or wireless IoT devices.
Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
Compensation
In this role, you’ll receive an hourly rate of $30-35/hr. Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour week during the duration of their internship.
Location
This role is based in Atlanta, GA, where you’ll join our dynamic team to collaborate in person and drive innovation. Candidates must reside in or relocate to Atlanta, GA, for this position.
