Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Airtable’s enterprise product work sits at a mature stage of SaaS, where platform trust becomes a prerequisite for adoption. This Engineering Manager role is anchored in the control plane for large customers, spanning admin surfaces, identity and access patterns, auditability, and governance. The added AI governance focus reflects a broader shift in SaaS: enterprise buyers increasingly require explicit controls before enabling new capabilities at scale.
For a SaaS career, this position offers leverage at the intersection of product strategy and foundational engineering. Managing systems that underpin SSO, admin policy, and audit trails builds durable expertise in multi-tenant enterprise requirements, risk management, and the operational realities of serving complex organizations. The remit also emphasizes building decision-making frameworks and scaling processes, experience that transfers across enterprise SaaS platforms where reliability and compliance shape product direction.
This role tends to fit an engineering leader who enjoys ambiguity bounded by customer needs and who can translate governance concepts into implementable roadmaps. It suits managers comfortable partnering closely with product and design, balancing near-term delivery with long-horizon platform investments, and coaching engineers across experience levels while keeping quality and sustainability central.

Job Description
Airtable is used by more than half of the Fortune 500 companies to power their mission-critical initiatives. Enterprise customers leverage Airtable to build sophisticated apps, and orchestrate deep, end-to-end workflows. As we continue to scale, our teams are building the systems to ensure the security and governance of our customer’s data - from secure handling of file attachments to enterprise key management. These are advanced systems that provide robust security measures to protect our user’s data.
We are seeking Engineering Managers to join our Enterprise engineering pillar, focused on scaling product experiences for our biggest customers. We currently have openings on:
- The Admin & Governance Team (SF): As AI becomes central to Airtable, enterprise customers need governance controls that let them adopt AI confidently, with granular feature enablement, capability-based restrictions, and full admin visibility. The Admin & Governance team is building that control plane – the AI Governance framework that gives admins those controls at every level of the enterprise. This work builds on the team's deep ownership of Airtable's enterprise trust infrastructure: the Admin Panel, SSO, audit systems, and User Groups that power governance for our largest customers. We're looking for a leader who can drive the AI Governance roadmap, scale the team's existing enterprise trust systems, and directly unblock adoption for our largest customers.
Please note: while we employ a hybrid working model at Airtable (flexible in working from the office or elsewhere), we are looking to hire candidates at this level that are based in San Francisco or New York City who are open to coming into the office at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration.
What you'll do
- Lead, manage, and grow a team of high-functioning engineers that are in charge of our systems and frameworks.
- Partner with engineering leaders to drive technical decisions and initiatives to build products in a high-quality and sustainable way.
- Nurture a team of passionate and capable engineers. Partner with senior engineers to multiply their impact, and coach & grow early-career engineers.
- Partner with cross-functional peers including product and design to come up with and execute against short and long term strategy and plans for the team.
- Implement processes to help the team scale and be productive, while allowing for agility to accommodate the dynamic environment that we operate in.
Who you are
- 5+ years experience as an engineer (previously in a staff or TL level IC position) and 2+ years as a manager, or a similar combination.
- Strong customer focus and experience working closely with Product Managers to define products, manage tradeoffs, and drive adoption with customers.
- Experience with navigating large, complex systems.
- Experience leading high performing engineering teams in a fast paced environment
- Experience in growing and mentoring engineers.
- Experience in managing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple projects and work streams.
