Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Security Researcher role sits at the intersection of two active SaaS shifts: AI-native product development and the modernisation of security operations. With the company recently emerging from stealth on a seed round, the work is likely to be close to core product decisions, where research directly shapes how AI agents behave in real SOC workflows. The focus on reducing alert noise and investigation time points to a SaaS product built around measurable operational outcomes, not just tooling.
For a SaaS career, the value is in learning how applied security research becomes production capability. The remit spans telemetry, integrations with existing security platforms, and turning LLM-based ideas into deployable modules, which mirrors how many SaaS security products evolve from prototypes to reliable features. Owning work from concept to deployment also builds fluency in the full lifecycle that matters in SaaS: iteration, validation, and maintainability in customer environments.
This position suits someone who prefers hands-on investigation and engineering, and who enjoys translating ambiguous security signals into structured automation. It will fit a practitioner comfortable collaborating across functions and iterating on workflows, especially where success is defined by operational impact rather than publications alone.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
About Us
Join the company building the next generation of AI-powered cybersecurity operations. Mate Security is solving one of the most pressing problems in cybersecurity today: the noise and burnout in security operations centers (SOCs). We build AI agents that accelerate cyber investigations from 45 minutes to 45 seconds, helping security teams focus on what truly matters. We recently emerged from stealth with a $15.5M seed round from top-notch investors, Insight Partners and Team8. We're moving at an incredible pace, working hard and enjoying every minute of it. If you thrive on building something new from the ground up and want to work with a small team of world-class talent where every individual makes a massive impact, we want you with us.
What You’ll Do
- Research how to leverage security telemetry and existing security solutions to improve triage and automated response.
- Design, fine-tune, and optimize LLM-based modules and agents for alert enrichment, triage analysis, and automated response.
- Translate research into production-ready code and own features from concept to deployment.
- Work cross-functionally to refine and evolve agentic workflows that drive automated security operations.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years in a security-focused role (e.g., Security Researcher, Analyst).
- Strong development fundamentals with experience delivering and maintaining production-grade code.
- Hands-on experience with security platforms and the telemetry they produce (alerts, logs, artifacts).
- Practical background in cybersecurity investigations (IR, forensics, cloud, triage).
- Solid understanding of LLM concepts and architectures, with hands-on experience applying them in practice.
Why Join the Mate Team?
- Work on a product that is literally the future of cybersecurity.
- A culture that values "winning together" and leading by example.
- Opportunity to work with the latest AI tools in your daily DevOps workflow.
- Fast-paced, high-impact environment with zero bureaucracy.

We encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, and veteran status.
