Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Strategic Portfolio Performance Manager role stands out in SaaS-adjacent product organisations where multiple initiatives compete for funding, attention, and measurable outcomes. The remit is centered on turning strategy into a governed portfolio view, with defined value hypotheses, consistent KPI language, and decision-grade reporting for leadership forums. That emphasis on benefits realization and standardised measurement mirrors how mature SaaS businesses manage product and platform investments across horizons, rather than treating delivery status as the primary signal.
For a SaaS career path, the work builds durable capability in value attribution, metric design, and portfolio storytelling, all of which translate across product-led and platform-led companies. Experience consolidating dashboards, creating executive narratives, and surfacing value leakage develops the muscle of connecting operational data to commercial outcomes. The role also reinforces cross-functional fluency by partnering with product, finance, analytics, and governance to align baselines, targets, and tracking methods.
This position fits professionals who prefer structured problem solving and are comfortable challenging assumptions with evidence. It will suit someone who enjoys building repeatable frameworks, improving data quality, and facilitating alignment in review cadences. It is particularly relevant for operators and analysts ready to broaden from single-program ownership into portfolio-level trade-offs and decision support.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.

1. Portfolio Value Definition & Benefits Realization
Define clear value hypotheses, success metrics, and KPIs for MADTech initiatives at intake/approval, in partnership with product, finance, and analytics.
Translate strategic objectives into measurable portfolio outcomes (e.g., revenue, margin, engagement, cost-efficiency, risk reduction).
Maintain a live view of expected vs. realized value across the portfolio, surfacing where we are over- or under-delivering against the original business case.
Identify underperforming bets and value leakage and recommend actions (double-down, pivot, repair, or exit) to the AVP and relevant decision forums.
2. Portfolio Performance Reporting & Insights
Build and maintain portfolio-level performance dashboards that consolidate initiative status, realized outcomes, and forward-looking projections across MADTech pillars and themes.
Produce executive-ready performance narratives and packs for Portfolio Review, ManCom / SteerCo, and QBRs, highlighting progress, risks, trade-offs, and decision asks.
Segment performance by pillar, horizon, customer segment, and initiative type to show where the portfolio is concentrated and where value is truly coming from.
Standardize performance reporting templates and definitions (e.g., “committed vs. realized value”, “in-year vs. run-rate”) to ensure consistency across initiative owners.
3. Governance & Decision Support
- Partner with Portfolio & Governance and Programs & Transformation leads to ensure performance insights directly inform prioritization, stage-gates, and stop/continue decisions.
Provide structured inputs (value realization, benefit risk, scenario comparisons) into portfolio governance forums so decisions are grounded in data rather than anecdote.
Maintain a single, trusted source of truth for portfolio performance, aligned with the initiative registry and portfolio taxonomies (pillars, themes, horizons, initiative types).
Support definition and tracking of portfolio-level OKRs/KPIs that tie MADTech bets to broader New Business / GCash objectives.
4. Data, Analytics & Tooling
Partner with Analytics and Data & Decision Science to design simple, robust performance measurement frameworks and data pipelines for portfolio tracking.
Define data requirements and quality standards for initiative owners (e.g., baseline, target, actuals, confidence levels, attribution assumptions).
Co-own, with Portfolio & Governance and Programs & Transformation, the configuration of portfolio and program management tools (e.g., Smartsheet or equivalent) to capture performance data and generate dashboards efficiently.
Run periodic data quality checks and coach initiative teams on improving their inputs (e.g., KPI definitions, benefit tracking).
5. Stakeholder Management & Ways of Working
Work closely with Product, Business Development, Operations, and Finance partners to align on value definitions, baselines, and benefit tracking plans before initiatives are approved.
Facilitate working sessions and reviews with initiative owners to interpret performance trends, understand drivers, and agree on corrective actions.
Support change management around new performance frameworks and tools (training, comms, feedback loops) to ensure adoption and stickiness across MADTech teams.
Role-model disciplined, transparent communication — simplifying complex performance stories into clear messages for leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Management, Statistics, or related field required; postgraduate studies in analytics, finance, or strategy is an advantage.
5–7+ years of relevant experience in portfolio / program performance management, strategy execution, analytics, finance, or transformation roles, ideally in tech, telco, fintech, or digital environments.
Demonstrated experience defining KPIs, building performance dashboards, and telling clear, executive-ready value stories from complex data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort with data interpretation and basic financial modeling (e.g., revenue, margin, payback, NPV).
High proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace) and program / portfolio management tools (e.g., Smartsheet or equivalent).
BEHAVIORAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
Executional discipline:Operates with urgency and structure; follows through on commitments and closes feedback loops with stakeholders.
Data-driven decision-making:Uses data, not anecdote, to frame options and trade-offs; comfortable challenging assumptions using evidence.
Stakeholder influence:Can align cross-functional partners on performance narratives, trade-offs, and next steps in ambiguous situations.
Communication excellence:Simplifies complexity; produces crisp, executive-ready materials and facilitates productive discussions in governance forums.
