Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This entry level sales role sits at a common inflection point in SaaS go to market: building pipeline through consistent outbound, tight qualification, and disciplined CRM hygiene. It is based in Austin with a hybrid schedule, which often signals a sales floor environment where coaching and peer learning are part of how early career sellers ramp. The company operates in education technology, a SaaS category where multi stakeholder buying and territory planning tend to matter early.
For someone building a SaaS sales career, the long term value is in learning the fundamentals that transfer across products and verticals. Regular prospecting, account research, and handoffs to Account Executives develop an understanding of how top of funnel activity connects to revenue outcomes. Working in Salesforce and collaborating with marketing on campaigns also builds operational fluency that becomes increasingly important as SaaS teams standardize process and measurement.
This role suits professionals who want a structured starting point and are comfortable being measured on activity and pipeline contribution. It will fit someone who prefers clear targets, frequent feedback, and repetition as a way to improve messaging and call control. It is also a sensible match for early career candidates or career changers looking to prove aptitude before moving into closing roles.

Job Description
You don’t need a resume full of sales experience. You need drive, a thick skin, and a genuine hunger to win. SchooLinks is one of Texas’s fastest-growing SaaS companies, and we’re looking for our next Business Development Representative, someone who wants to earn their way into a high-growth sales career starting now.
This isn’t just a job. It’s a structured launchpad. You’ll get weekly sales training from day one, a clear path to Account Executive roles, and a team that genuinely invests in your growth.
Who We Are
SchooLinks is the #1 college and career readiness platform in the country, partnering with school districts to help students figure out who they are and where they’re going. Our mission matters — and selling it is easier when you believe in it.
What You’ll Do
Your job is to open doors. You’ll be the first voice prospects hear from SchooLinks, and your goal is to spark conversations that turn into opportunities.
- Own your territory: cold call and email school district prospects daily
- Research accounts, personalize outreach, and qualify inbound and outbound leads
- Schedule demos and hand warm opportunities off to Account Executives
- Maintain clean records in Salesforce so nothing falls through the cracks
- Hit (and beat) weekly and monthly activity targets
- Collaborate with marketing on campaigns that generate pipeline
- Stay sharp on product updates, pricing, and market trends
Your Growth Path
We promote from within. Our top BDRs move into Account Executive roles with higher base pay and uncapped commission. The only thing that limits how fast you move is your performance.
Where You’ll Work
You’ll be in our Austin office three days a week. For a role built on coaching, competition, and quick feedback loops, being in the room matters. You’ll ramp faster sitting next to your manager and teammates than you ever would on a call and the energy of a sales floor is something you have to experience to understand.
We care far more about how you’re wired than what’s on your resume.
- You genuinely want to start a career in software sales — not just any job
- Rejection doesn’t rattle you; it motivates you to sharpen your approach
- You thrive in fast-moving, competitive environments where the scoreboard is visible
- You’re clear, confident, and compelling when you communicate — in writing and on the phone
- You hold yourself accountable and don’t wait to be told what to do next
- You lift the people around you, not just yourself
Prior sales experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you’re a recent grad, career changer, or someone who’s been waiting for the right door to knock on — this is it.
Compensation is $45,000 base salary + variable comp with on-target earnings of $66,600. Your commission structure rewards consistent activity and qualified pipeline — not just closed deals.
- 100% health insurance coverage for employees
- 401(k) with company matching
- Dental & vision
- Parental leave
- Subsidized gym membership
- Remote work stipend
- Annual team offsite
One More Thing: Show Us What You’ve Got
We know a resume doesn’t tell the whole story — especially for this role. So instead of letting a piece of paper make the call, we want to hear from you directly.
Once you've submitted your application you'll receive an email to submit a video. Your phone camera is fine — we’re not looking for production quality. Just tell us:
- Why you want to break into sales
- What makes you someone who won’t quit when it gets hard
- Why SchooLinks specifically
This is your chance to stand out beyond your resume. Strong communicators with limited experience are exactly who we’re looking for — and this is how you show us that’s you.
SchooLinks is an equal opportunity employer committed to building an inclusive, diverse workplace.
