In this role, you have the opportunity to
… work across critical areas of Regulatory Compliance for a fast-growing fintech ecosystem covering Payments, Lending, Insurance Distribution, Digital Lending, Telecom Compliance, and emerging financial services businesses.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Legal, Risk, Business, Technology, and Senior Management to ensure regulatory adherence, proactive risk mitigation, and strong governance frameworks. The role requires a deep understanding of RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, TRAI, and other applicable regulatory frameworks impacting fintech and digital financial services businesses.
You will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s compliance culture by implementing structured compliance monitoring mechanisms, conducting thematic reviews, assessing regulatory changes, and driving closure of compliance gaps through practical and business-aligned solutions.
Responsibilities will include
Regulatory Change Management
- Maintain continuous oversight of regulatory developments impacting fintech, payments, digital lending, insurance distribution, telecom communications, and allied financial services sectors.
- Monitor, interpret, and analyse regulatory changes, circulars, notifications, advisories, master directions, and enforcement actions issued by RBI, NPCI, IRDAI, TRAI, and other regulatory bodies.
- Conduct regulatory impact assessments for new regulations, amendments, business initiatives, partnerships, and operational changes.
- Drive organization-wide implementation of regulatory changes through coordination with Product, Business, Operations, Technology, Legal, and Risk teams.
- Prepare and disseminate regulatory advisories, implementation guidance notes, and actionable compliance updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Support drafting and submission of regulatory representations, responses, clarifications, and industry consultations, wherever required.
- Provide ongoing regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders on operational, product, and business-related compliance matters.
- Ensure regulatory obligations are embedded into internal policies, SOPs, governance frameworks, and operational workflows.
Regulatory Compliance
- Manage end-to-end regulatory compliance requirements applicable to Lending Service Providers (LSPs), insurance distribution businesses, mutual fund distribution, and other fintech operations.
- Oversee timely submission of regulatory reports, returns, certifications, declarations, and compliance filings to regulators, partners, and industry bodies.
- Coordinate and support audits, regulatory inspections, thematic reviews, and compliance certifications.
- Manage outsourcing and third-party compliance oversight, including review of vendor controls, regulatory obligations, contractual requirements, and governance mechanisms.
- Maintain compliance trackers, governance dashboards, regulatory repositories, and evidence management systems.
- Support implementation and periodic review of policies and procedures in line with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for closure of compliance requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Prepare compliance MIS, governance reports, and management updates for senior leadership.
Compliance Testing
- Design and execute periodic compliance testing programs, thematic reviews, and regulatory control assessments across business functions.
- Conduct obligation testing, SOP reviews, operational control testing, and gap assessments to evaluate adherence to applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain detailed compliance testing frameworks, annual review plans, and risk-based monitoring methodologies.
- Identify regulatory and operational gaps through structured testing and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across Product, Operations, Technology, Business, Legal, and Risk teams for remediation and timely closure of observations.
- Track corrective action plans, mitigation measures, and implementation timelines for identified compliance gaps.
- Maintain detailed testing documentation, review records, evidence repositories, and audit trails for regulatory and governance purposes.
- Drive proactive identification of emerging compliance risks through thematic analysis and control monitoring.
- Ensure continuous improvement of compliance monitoring and testing mechanisms aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
Product Assessment & Regulatory Advisory
- Provide regulatory guidance and compliance advisory support during product conceptualization and innovation stages.
- Partner with Product, Technology, and Business teams to assess regulatory feasibility and risk exposure for new products, features, partnerships, and customer journeys.
- Conduct regulatory risk assessments during product development lifecycle and recommend necessary controls and safeguards.
- Review product flows, SOPs, agreements, customer communications, and operational processes from regulatory risk perspectives.
- Perform compliance gap assessments during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and pre-launch review stages.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are adequately implemented prior to product launch and operational deployment.
- Conduct post go-live reviews and monitoring to assess ongoing compliance adherence and operational effectiveness.
- Support implementation of compliance-by-design principles across products and business processes.
Employee Training & Compliance Awareness
- Conduct periodic compliance trainings and awareness sessions for employees across business and operational functions.
- Develop training material, compliance advisories, regulatory explainers, and awareness communication for internal stakeholders.
- Drive organizational awareness on key regulatory developments, compliance obligations, governance expectations, and emerging risk themes.
- Support creation of a strong compliance culture through continuous engagement, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and capability building programs.
- Encourage proactive compliance ownership and accountability across teams and functions.
To succeed in the role
Qualifications
- Any CS/ CA/ MBA/ LLB with at least 6 – 8 years of experience in compliance / compliance testing / Internal audit with BFSI /Fintech / Big 4.
- Sound knowledge of RBI, IRDAI, TRAI, SEBI rules & regulations.
Skills, experiences & behaviors
- Strong understanding of fintech regulatory and operational ecosystems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, compliance testing, and risk assessment capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple regulatory priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GRC tools.
