Responsibilities will include …
FinTech Product Advisory
- Provide day-to-day legal support for fintech products and digital financial services ecosystem such as payment aggregator, prepaid instruments, digital lending, TPAP
- Advise business and product teams on applicable legal and regulatory requirements relating to RBI regulations, KYC/AML, consumer protection, outsourcing, and data privacy.
- Review product journeys, customer-facing flows, and new feature rollouts from a legal and compliance perspective.
- Support product structuring and launch activities by identifying legal risks and recommending practical mitigation measures.
- Track and analyze regulatory developments impacting fintech products and support implementation of regulatory changes.
Contracts & Commercial Transactions
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage fintech-focused commercial agreements including Payment Aggregator (PA), merchant acquiring, Lending Service Provider (LSP), UPI ecosystem, banking partner, and technology integration agreements.
- Advise business and product teams on contractual structuring, commercial terms, liability allocation, regulatory obligations, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure agreements comply with applicable RBI regulations, NPCI guidelines, digital payments framework, and outsourcing requirements.
- Support onboarding and management of banking, NBFC, payment network, and strategic fintech partnerships.
- Develop standardized contract templates, negotiation frameworks, and approval processes to enable efficient and scalable contracting operations.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Assist in preparation of legal notes, regulatory submissions, responses, and representations to regulators or industry bodies where required.
- Provide legal support for audits, compliance reviews, investigations, and dispute management.
- Assist in implementation of data privacy and DPDP compliance requirements, including review of privacy-related documentation and contractual safeguards.
Stakeholder Management & Legal Operations
- Collaborate closely with product, compliance, risk, finance, operations, and technology teams on business initiatives and legal matters.
- Work with external counsel and consultants on specialized legal matters when required.
- Support development of scalable legal processes, trackers, and governance mechanisms.
- Ensure proper documentation, record management, and legal compliance across transactions and product initiatives.
To succeed in the role …
Qualifications
- Law Graduate from a recognized university.
- 4-6 years post-qualification experience in a law firm or corporate legal department with experience in fintech and banking.
Skills, experiences & behaviors
- Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience as a lawyer, with a particular focus on fintech and/or financial services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and effective communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of the relevant laws and regulations in India related to fintech, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, NPCI and Reserve Bank of India regulations such as Digital Lending Directions, 2025, Master Directions of RBI – Know Your Customer 2016, Payment aggregation, Credit Card regulations, Prepaid Instruments, NBFC regulations and related compliances etc.;
- Proven experience in negotiating and drafting contracts, including vendor agreements, customer agreements, and technology licensing agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including business teams, technology teams, and compliance teams.
