Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Staff Workday HRIS Technical Analyst role stands out in the SaaS landscape because it treats the HRIS as a core operating platform rather than a support tool. In SaaS companies, Workday often becomes the system of record that underpins headcount planning, access controls, and employee lifecycle workflows across HR, IT, and Finance. Owning configuration, integrations, and release readiness places the role at a critical intersection of operational scalability and data reliability.
For a SaaS career, the work translates into durable platform ownership experience: designing business processes, managing a twice-yearly vendor release cycle, and building integrations that keep an ecosystem of best-of-breed tools coherent. The emphasis on automation, security modeling, and advanced reporting also maps closely to how SaaS operators reduce manual overhead while improving governance and decision quality as organizations grow.
This position fits professionals who prefer end-to-end accountability and enjoy turning ambiguous stakeholder needs into clean system design. It will suit someone comfortable working across functions, balancing stability with iterative improvement, and staying current on Workday’s evolving capabilities, including AI and analytics features, without losing sight of operational fundamentals.

Job Description
About the team/role
We are seeking a highly experienced Workday specialist to own and advance our Workday platform end to end. This role sits at the center of our people systems landscape and is responsible for deep Workday configuration, business process design, integrations, reporting, and the adoption of Workday's AI and automation capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on Workday expertise: they know its modules, security model, and release cadence intimately, and they can translate complex HR and business requirements into clean, scalable Workday solutions. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who can independently drive work forward without needing explicit direction.
What you’ll do
- Platform Ownership & Roadmap - Serve as the Workday subject matter expert across HR, IT, and Finance; own the platform roadmap, module adoption strategy, and alignment with Workday's twice-yearly release cycle.
- Configuration & Optimization - Lead configuration, testing, and deployment across HCM Core, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Performance, Recruiting, Workday Adaptive Planning - including business processes, security models, calculated fields, and custom reporting.
- Release Management & Health - Conduct regression testing for each Workday release, perform regular audits, and drive performance tuning and configuration health checks to ensure platform stability.
- Integrations & Automation - Build and maintain integrations using Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIB, and APIs to connect Workday with adjacent systems (Greenhouse, CultureAmp, Pave, payroll, finance, provisioning); identify and eliminate manual workflows through system-driven automation.
- Self-Service & Employee Experience - Optimize business processes, notifications, navigation, and the user interface to reduce administrative burden, increase adoption, and improve the employee and manager self-service experience.
- AI & Analytics - Evaluate and implement Workday AI, machine learning, skills intelligence, and Analytics capabilities; partner with data and IT teams to ensure scalability, data privacy, and ethical deployment.
- Cross-Functional Partnership - Translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications, manage the Workday vendor and implementation partner relationships, and lead project delivery and adoption across the organization.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive HR technology experience, with deep, hands-on expertise configuring and optimizing Workday.
- Demonstrated expertise across multiple Workday modules, such as HCM Core, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, or Recruiting. Workday certification (Pro or equivalent) is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience building Workday integrations using Studio, Core Connectors, EIB, and Workday APIs.
- Strong command of the Workday security model, business process framework, calculated fields, and advanced reporting.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning is a strong plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Self-starter with a proactive approach, capable of driving work independently and identifying opportunities for improvement without explicit direction.
- Proven experience with process automation and workflow design inside Workday.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex Workday concepts for non-technical audiences.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.
