Associate Software Engineer
The Genesys Digital & AI group builds the innovations that power customer experiences for 7,500+ organisations worldwide. As an Associate Software Engineer you’ll join the team building backend services and data flows that underpin our Agentic AI products at global scale. You’ll be surrounded by experienced engineers, learning how to design reliable systems, contribute clean code, and tackle real-world technical challenges. This is a role for voracious learners and collaborators — people eager to grow their skills while helping the team deliver secure, maintainable software quickly.
What You Will Do:
- Contribute to features and components. Assist in designing, building, testing, and deploying backend capabilities (APIs, events/streams, storage, caching) under guidance from senior engineers.
- Learn by doing. Pair with teammates, participate in code reviews, and steadily take on more ownership of services and features.
- Support reliability. Help with observability (logs, metrics, alerts), assist in maintaining runbooks, and join incident response with mentorship.
- Collaborate openly. Work closely with Agentic AI specialists, Product, Security, SRE and Data to learn how features move from idea to production.
- Write clean code. Follow team standards and best practices; contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Embrace secure engineering. Learn the basics of IAM, secrets handling, and data governance, and apply them in your work.
- Communicate and share. Provide updates on your progress, ask for help when stuck, and contribute ideas to team discussions.
- Grow your skills. Take feedback openly, seek out new technical challenges, and show curiosity about Agentic AI systems and modern engineering practices.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
- Some real-world programming experience, such as internships, projects, or early career roles.
- Familiarity with Python and/or Java, with foundational knowledge of algorithms, data structures and software design.
- An interest in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and willingness to build hands-on experience.
- Curiosity about Agentic AI and enthusiasm for learning how modern AI-driven systems work.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn from peers and mentors.
Desirable Experience or an Interest in Learning:
- Exposure to service-based or event-driven systems (REST, gRPC, Kafka, etc.).
- Experience with data tools (e.g. Pandas, Spark) from university or side projects.
- Understanding of basic observability concepts (logs, metrics, traces).
- Interest in security, privacy and governance.
