Job Description: We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager II with a strong technical background to lead the Cloud Platform and help productize our internal platforms into durable services. This role sits at the intersection of customer trust, enterprise adoption, and developer experience. If done well, it will unlock migrations to our cloud offering, accelerate security approvals, and pave the way for an internal API and platform services ecosystem. This is not a “roadmap PM” role. We need someone who can dig into the details, understand the technical aspects, get to the real why behind customer asks, and turn complex systems into clear, managed services. One more thing… We work in a hybrid model—you’ll join us in our Redwood City office to collaborate, connect, and enjoy a team atmosphere! What You’ll Do Lead the Zero Data initiative: This initiative is to enable our customers to use our product while data does not leave their network. You will work with engineering architects to create clearly defined, understandable guarantees we can provide to our customers and stage into deliverable milestones. Clarify and validate customer requirements: When customers say “no data may leave our servers” or “we’ll migrate if XYZ,” get to the why, validate the real blockers, and secure commitments before engineering invests. Productize internal platforms: Turn foundational systems (e.g., query execution service, cloud connectivity service) into documented, spec-first services with clear APIs, release notes, and ownership. We want you to treat our internal Alation platform like a product - think about who your customers are, what they need and how they'll use it. Communicate complexity simply: Produce diagrams, service definitions, and security packets that make it easy for sellers, executives, and customers to understand and move forward. Support enterprise adoption: Partner with Sales and Product Marketing to navigate security reviews, pricing/packaging of enterprise features, and escalations with high-stakes customers. What You’ve Done Built or PM’d technical products (platforms, APIs, infra, developer tools, or security-sensitive features). Worked with cloud infrastructure concepts (containers, networking, observability, k8s etc.). Worked closely with engineers and architects to author specs, APIs, or architecture diagrams that shipped. Navigated tough enterprise conversations around security, compliance, or data residency. Made complex systems understandable to executives, sellers, and customers. We’d Love to Hear About: An architecture diagram or spec you authored, and how it guided decisions. A time you defined an interface or API and managed versioning/release notes. A customer or internal situation where you pushed back, uncovered the real need, and changed the plan. Any experience accelerating enterprise security reviews or migrations through clarity and documentation. #LI-MS1 Compensation Pay Range: $190,631.00 - $257,352.00 Salary Information The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty and training. If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published. Alation, Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
