Genesys empowers organizations of all sizes to improve loyalty and business outcomes by creating the best experiences for their customers and employees. Through Genesys Cloud, the AI-powered Experience Orchestration platform, organizations can accelerate growth by delivering empathetic, personalized experiences at scale to drive customer loyalty, workforce engagement, efficiency and operational improvements.
We employ more than 6,000 people across the globe who embrace empathy and cultivate collaboration to succeed. And, while we offer great benefits and perks like larger tech companies, our employees have the independence to make a larger impact on the company and take ownership of their work. Join the team and create the future of customer experience together.
The Genesys Digital & AI group builds the innovations that power customer experiences for 7,500+ organizations worldwide. As a Senior Engineer you’ll ship clean, reliable backend services and data flows that underpin our Agentic AI products at global scale. You’ll co‑design sane interfaces with AI specialists, keep systems stable and cost‑aware, and help the team deliver secure, maintainable software quickly. We iterate rapidly and aim to deliver valuable applied AI features to as many customers as possible.
What You Will Do:
- Own well‑defined services or components end‑to‑end. Design, build, test, deploy and operate backend capabilities (APIs, events/streams, storage, consistency, caching), including on‑call participation and post‑GA care.
- Deliver features from discovery to GA. Write clear technical docs and contribute to design reviews, break work down sensibly and land change without drama.
- Build for scale and stability. Implement observability, SLOs, runbooks and back‑pressure/limits; take part in incident response and post‑mortems.
- Collaborate across teams. Partner with Agentic AI specialists, Product, Security, SRE and Data to design stable interfaces, plan dependencies and ship predictable outcomes.
- Improve our engineering bar. Write clean, well‑tested code; review PRs; contribute to golden paths/templates, API/event design standards and automated testing.
- Make pragmatic trade‑offs. Balance latency, reliability, security and cost using measurement (profiling, load testing) rather than guesswork.
- Security and governance by design. Apply threat modelling, least‑privilege IAM, secrets hygiene and data retention/residency with strong auditability.
- Communicate crisply. Keep stakeholders in the loop with concise proposals and status updates; turn complex options into clear decisions.
- Support the team’s growth. Share knowledge, pair program and offer kind, direct feedback; mentor mid‑level and early‑career engineers informally.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years building backend or platform software with evidence of strong ownership.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java, plus solid foundations in algorithms, data structures and distributed‑systems design.
- Experience with service and event‑driven architectures (REST/gRPC; Kafka/Kinesis/SQS), schema evolution, idempotency, backwards‑compatible APIs and data modelling.
- Comfortable with AWS (IAM, networking, DynamoDB/RDS, S3, ECS/Lambda/serverless) and modern DevOps/SRE (CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, observability, runbooks, on‑call).
- Curiosity about Agentic AI and LLM‑adjacent workloads (tooling, retrieval, evaluation, safety/guardrails) and a willingness to partner with experts in the area.
- Strong communication skills — able to align with Product and explain complex ideas simply.
- A growth mindset, healthy pragmatism and a bias‑to‑action.
Desirable Experience or an Interest in Learning:
- Analytics and data tooling, e.g. Apache Spark, Pandas.
- Batch data processing (Spark/Flink/EMR/Glue) and data quality tooling.
- LLM systems concepts (tool use/orchestration, retrieval, evals) and cost/latency trade‑offs.
- Observability at scale: metrics, traces, logs, SLOs and error budgets.
- Security, privacy and governance of enterprise software.
What do we offer:
- Stability of a multinational company and the flexibility/speed of a startup company.
- The warmest of welcomes: we will make sure you feel part of the Genesys team from day 1.
- Keep you in the loop: Complete support and transparency from our global/local leaders.
- An A-team: Talented and experienced professionals you can grow professionally with.
- An open & inclusive community.
- Career development: We will support your professional growth because your goals are important to us.
- Flexibility: we are open to candidates being eventually office based in Budapest, remote workers long term or a mix of both, but Hungary based.
- Empathy: your well-being is our priority. You will have extra days off in August and October, and extra time off to volunteer to help a cause close to your heart.
- Cafeteria, health insurance, life insurance, learning center to improve yourself, language courses, gym, vitamin bar, company cafe with our own barista.
- And a fabulous new HQ from near Nyugati Railway Station at Budapest.
