Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Agentic AI is quickly becoming a new interaction layer for SaaS platforms, and this Senior Product Manager role sits in the part of the stack where enterprise adoption is won or lost: governance. Rather than shipping a single feature, the scope centers on how AI agents and MCP clients access platform capabilities safely, with clear boundaries around permissions, auditability, and administrative control. In SaaS terms, that is foundational platform work that shapes how customers can trust automation at scale.
For a long-term SaaS product career, the role builds durable experience in designing “guardrails” that make multi-tenant systems operable in real customer environments. Ownership of RBAC, quotas, throttling, service accounts, and policy enforcement develops a strong mental model for reliability and risk in subscription software. The emphasis on telemetry-driven decisions also reflects a core SaaS skill: using usage and failure signals to guide prioritization, rollout strategy, and iteration.
This position is best suited to product leaders who enjoy ambiguity at the intersection of platform engineering, security controls, and customer-facing workflows. It will fit someone who can translate complex trust models into crisp requirements, and who prefers work where success is measured in safer defaults, clearer admin experiences, and fewer governance surprises in production.

Job Description
Senior Product Manager I - Agent Platform & Governance
Sumo Logic is hiring a Senior Product Manager I to help define how AI agents, MCP clients, and enterprise workflows safely interact with the Sumo Logic platform.
As AI becomes a broader interface for accessing data, insights, and platform capabilities, customers need confidence that every agentic workflow is secure, governed, auditable, and aligned with enterprise controls. This role will own key product areas across MCP strategy, agent governance, headless invocation, agent-to-agent integrations, RBAC, rate limiting, throttling, quotas, admin controls, and auditability.
You will work closely with engineering, architecture, security, AI, platform, and customer-facing teams to turn ambiguous platform and governance needs into scalable product capabilities. This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate at the intersection of technical platform depth, enterprise customer trust, and fast-moving AI product strategy.
What You Will Be Doing
- Own product strategy and execution for MCP and governed agent access to Sumo Logic capabilities.
- Define how agents, tools, skills, APIs, and external clients can safely interact with the Sumo Logic platform.
- Drive requirements for headless agent invocation, including access patterns across external clients, partner tools, IDEs, terminals, Slack, and other future surfaces.
- Shape Sumo Logic’s approach to agent-to-agent integrations, including invocation boundaries, trust models, permissioning, and auditability.
- Define governance models for tools, skills, agents, context, memory, and reusable content across the AI platform.
- Partner with engineering and architecture on rate limiting, throttling, quotas, tenant isolation, abuse prevention, and safe defaults for agentic workflows.
- Drive product requirements for RBAC, data access controls, service accounts, OAuth/API access, service allowlisting, and admin-configured policies as they apply to agents and MCP-based access.
- Define enterprise admin controls for managing agent access, approved tools, accessible content, long-term memory, context sources, and policy enforcement.
- Ensure agentic actions are observable, auditable, permission-aware, and explainable to enterprise admins.
- Translate strategic direction into crisp PRDs, proposals, user stories, acceptance criteria, and phased rollout plans.
- Use telemetry to monitor agent usage, MCP adoption, tool calls, rate-limit hits, permission failures, policy violations, latency, and operational reliability.
- Create leadership-facing proposals that clearly explain tradeoffs across customer demand, governance, platform complexity, and long-term architecture.
What You Bring
- 4+ years of product management experience, ideally in enterprise SaaS, cloud platforms, security, IAM, APIs, AI platforms, developer platforms, observability, or security products.
- Strong technical product instincts around permissions, governance, APIs, platform architecture, admin controls, and enterprise-scale systems.
- Familiarity with AI agent concepts such as MCP, tools, skills, agent orchestration, headless invocation, agent-to-agent workflows, context, memory, and guardrails.
- Strong understanding of enterprise controls such as RBAC, OAuth, API keys, service accounts, audit logs, policy enforcement, rate limits, throttling, quotas, and data access boundaries.
- Ability to ask the right questions, identify edge cases, and think through how product capabilities behave under real enterprise constraints.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable using telemetry, dashboards, SQL, and usage data to understand adoption, friction, failures, and risk.
- Strong communication skills across both technical and business audiences.
- Ability to write clear product proposals, decision docs, PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- A fast learner who can quickly ramp on emerging areas like MCP, agent governance, AI platform architecture, and enterprise AI controls.
- High ownership, hustle, and drive to make progress in ambiguous, fast-moving product areas.
Must-Have Qualities
- Asks the right questions - especially around trust, permissioning, edge cases, customer impact, and failure modes.
- Strong communicator - can explain complex platform and governance concepts clearly.
- High drive and ownership - pushes through ambiguity and drives execution.
- Strong analytical capability — uses data to prioritize, validate, and refine product decisions.
- Quick learner - can rapidly understand MCP, governance, IAM, AI agents, and platform architecture.
- Tradeoff thinker - can frame options, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly.
