Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Intercom’s Senior Employment Counsel role stands out in SaaS because it sits at the intersection of product-led growth and a globally distributed workforce. Modern SaaS companies routinely hire across jurisdictions, iterate on org design, and adjust incentive structures as go-to-market models evolve; this position is directly connected to those operational realities through close partnership with People, Recruiting, Compensation, Stock Administration, and Privacy.
From a SaaS career perspective, the remit builds durable expertise in how recurring-revenue businesses manage risk while scaling headcount and programs. Work spanning policies, investigations, litigation management, and cross-border employment compliance develops a playbook that transfers across SaaS operators—particularly where equity, leveling, and commission design are tightly linked to execution. The inclusion of privacy considerations for employees and candidates also reflects a common SaaS pattern: legal issues rarely stay in one lane.
This role is best suited to an experienced in-house-minded employment lawyer who prefers broad ownership over a narrow docket and is comfortable advising stakeholders across functions and geographies. It fits someone who values structured judgment, strong drafting, and pragmatic guidance that supports business decisions without becoming the decision-maker.
